Chesson Hadley

Q:  Chesson, nice round.  Give some comments on your day.

CHESSON HADLEY:  Yeah, it was awesome.  I’ll tell you what, this year’s been such a struggle, so to play the way I played the last two days is a real treat.  It’s nice to remind myself that I can do it.  Obviously you know you can, and even though sometimes you don’t think you can, it’s always in there.  It’s been great.  Nice to make a lot of birdies.  I honestly didn’t putt very well yesterday, I just kind of kept hitting it close and tapping it in, which worked out great.  I made a few putts today, also hit it great again.  So just a treat to be in contention going into the weekend so hopefully I can keep the pedal down and play well again tomorrow.

Q:  What’s been the difference this week as opposed to the last couple weeks for you?

CHESSON HADLEY:  Well, I’m hitting it great.  I think I’ve just prepared a little bit better, just kind of maybe a refocus in preparation.  Josh and I, my caddie, we’ve been talking through a lot of shots and just doing things a little bit differently.  Just a little bit more focused, a little bit more purposeful and it seems ‑‑ I feel like it’s helped with my attitude a little bit as far as just kind of relaxed out there a little bit.  Just trusting yourself knowing you’re going to make birdies, so hopefully I can keep that up.

Q:  The other side of that coin is why do you think you struggled?

CHESSON HADLEY:  You know, I think a lot of reasons.  I think life off the course has been phenomenal but I’ve got two kids now and I’ve just had a lot going on.  I think some of my fundamentals with the game kind of got off.  I wasn’t driving it well and I wasn’t putting well, and if you don’t do either of those well on the PGA Tour, you lose your card, so that’s what happens.  When those things start to happen, your attitude, your belief and confidence always start to go downhill.  So, you know, it is what it is.  Everybody goes through it, the game of golf, so I’m glad to be playing well this week.

Q:  After two pretty much perfect days in scoring, do you look at the forecast and see it’s a little bit colder, a little bit windier?

CHESSON HADLEY:  I didn’t know that.  I think tomorrow’s supposed to be pretty nice.  I think Sunday looks, I think I saw 61 is the high, which that’s not freezing.  It should be a little bit colder in the morning, but 61 with a 20‑mile an hour breeze is kind of chilly.  You know, I wouldn’t mind it playing harder on the weekend.  I like it.  Let’s get it hard and let’s get some bad attitudes out there, I’m all for that.
